The Wassaic Project

About the Wassaic Project
The Wassaic Project is an incubator for emerging artists located in the historic hamlet of Wassaic, NY, two hours north of NYC. The Wassaic Project is committed to using art to strengthen social and cultural capital in our local community and providing access to great contemporary art to all who are interested.

Each year the Wassaic Project produces an exhibition of works by emerging artists in the Maxon Mills, a repurposed seven story grain elevator, as well as several guest curated shows. Our Summer Festival includes curated music, dance and film, as well as our visual art exhibition, and is free to attend. Our education program brings classes of children into our exhibition space to explore, discuss, and create contemporary art. The Wassaic Project also brings professional artists to lead classes in our local public schools.
